Since 2003, the Art Nouveau European Route magazine coupDefouet has sought to tell the story of Art Nouveau by focusing on the fine detail while contextualising it within a global outlook. To celebrate coupDefouet’s tenth anniversary, the Art Nouveau European Route will hold the coupDefouet International Congress in Barcelona on 26–29 June 2013.

The main theme strand of the Congress will be Art Nouveau European Cities: Between Cosmopolitanism and Local Tradition. There will also be sessions on recent historiographical contributions and presentations of doctoral thesis and research in progress, and debates on the future challenges of Art Nouveau heritage and on the importance of crafts and applied arts in the origins of modern design. The contents of the Congress are being supervised by a Scientific Committee, coordinated by the University of Barcelona.
