10 Cabinet maker

This cabinet maker, with his own workshop in Barcelona, worked with the architect A. Gaudí on several occasions: on Palau Güell (1885-1889; Nou de la Rambla, 3-5), for which he made the panelled ceilings, the doors and the wooden decoration in the dining room and lounge; and on the furniture designed by A. Gaudí for the chapel in Comillas, in Santander province. Another documented work by this craftsman are the wooden gates to Passatge de Bacardí in Barcelona, built in 1856 but no longer in existence. On much of this work, Julián Soley, also a cabinet maker, was part of his team.

At the time of his death his workshop was known as Planas i Casas, but the name was later changed to Queraltó i Planas, a firm which specialised in making decorations for establishments and articles of religious worship.
