Ciudades Educadoras de América Latina

Within the programme entitled "Educator Cities of Latin America", Rosario has set up a city revaluation project as the basis for a global education project whose final aim is the active involvement of citizens. The gathering of documentary materials and books on building heritage has been strengthened as a first step in this process, in which the study and appreciation of Modernista and Art Nouveau buildings plays an important role.

The Argentinean city of Rosario made a grand entrance into the world of Art Nouveau cities thanks to the presence of the Catalan architect Francesc Roca i Simó, who lived there between 1913 and 1919. He renewed the public and private architecture of the city in collaboration with a series of quality artists, such as the sculptor Dídac Masana, also Catalan, and the stained glass designer Salvador Buxadera, who worked in association with the painter Eugeni Fornell.
